Participate in the Beehive Building TeamBonding program and feel rejuvenated. You will be responsible for doing a great deed all while bonding with your co-workers. What better way to bond when you are reaching for the same goals? This innovative event allows your team to help out in a number of ways starting with building beehives to help alleviate CCD. Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) is a threatening condition that bees face and often lose much of their productivity and beehives. It’s a little known fact, but this is actually quite dangerous because one third of the food we eat depends on bees for pollination!
Teams will start with a scavenger hunt and will then move on to the beehives. You and your team will be working to construct beehive frames that will help with the loss that colonies of bees currently endure. Once you have built the new beehive frames, you will then be donating them to communities in need. In the United States-Mexico border community of Mexicali, there is a women’s cooperative that uses beekeeping as a way to generate income. The women of Mexicali use the beehives to produce and sell hand & facial creams, beeswax candles, honey-flavored baked goods, healing salves, bee pollen and more. This can dramatically change the lives of people in this community!
