The Importance of Teamwork

“Teamwork is the fuel that allows common people to produce uncommon results.”

– Andrew Carnegie

Teamwork is necessary for success in any business, and the right quote can inspire a team to work together.

This week’s team building quote comes from Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie was an industrialist who led the expansion of the steel industry in America in the late 19th century. He is also known for his work with philanthropy as he called on the rich to improve society for everybody. He built the Carnegie Steel Company in Pittsburgh, which eventually turned into the U.S. Steel Corporation.

Carnegie had much wisdom and many ideas for philanthropy and wealth. During his lifetime, he donated over $350 million to various causes and tried to think positively. He tried to convey his message at the end of his life.  The “Andrew Carnegie Dictum” was:

  • To spend the first third of one’s life getting all the education one can;
  • To spend the next third making all the money one can;
  • To spend the last third giving it all away for worthwhile causes.

Carnegie knew that his company would not thrive without teamwork because of the extent and scale that the steel industry possessed. The Carnegie Steel Company employed workers who could work together in order for the business to survive.

teamwork: laughter and success

Carnegie also believed there was little success where there was little laughter.

A fun, energetic work environment allows employees to work hard while also having a good time together. All of our programs involve laughter in the workplace, but also teach valuable lessons that will make your company stronger.

When was there a time at work where laughter inspired your team to work harder?

We would love to hear your stories about the fun you have in the workplace!
